Kina's belly dance background begins when she started taking classes at Aalim Dance nearly 15 years ago. Kina's dance style is best described as American belly dance with heavy Greek and Turkish influences. She danced with Aalim for 9 years before venturing into a dance company of her own. Kina established Chuvani Belly Dance in 2006, which has been a regular act at both the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire, and the Greater St. Louis Pirate Festival ever since. Although the dances and faces may change, one thing remains the same: Chuvani's mission to bring a combination of belly dance styles together to create a fun, family friendly performance for kids of all ages!

Scarlett has been interested in different styles of dancing as long as she can remember.  During school years, she was in the band front, cheerleader or member of the pom pon squad.  Fast forward many years, she started taking belly dancing classes with Flowers of Araby (FOA) in the Spring of 2007.  She was excited when asked to be a student dancer later that year.  She could not believe when asked by Kina of Chuvani to become a troupe member in 2010.  When FOA and Chuvani had performed together, she was in awe of their style of belly dancing.  She really enjoys all the ladies in the troupe - we are always there for one another.

Jen began taking belly dance classes in 2008 and joined Chuvani Belly Dance later that year.  Her training and style of dance would best be described as "fusion."  She loves to play with swords and fire!  When she's not busy shimmying, she works as a professional conservationist. Her other hobbies include reading, hiking, camping, jewelry making, gardening, sewing and watching cartoons.

Robin been infatuated with belly dance for many years. She began classes with Kina in November of 2009, and started performing with Chuvani the following May!  She's practiced many different styles of belly dance from tribal to cabaret, and enjoyed the challenge of learning the dances and working with several different props for performances.  She love creating beautiful costumes, and performing with such a fun group of girls!  And, her favorite fans are her husband and four sons who shout "Go Mommy!"  During our shows!  Outside of belly dance she works as a nurse and paints murals.  But most of her time is spent just being mom!
